WP Objectives

Ensure all the project high-level co-ordination activities; explore long term sustainability, international co-operation and liaisons with other disciplines

  • WP2-1 – Project overseeing
    • Defines the project programme
    • Oversees the project development and monitor the progress
    • Oversees the scientific aspects of the project
  • WP2-2 – European co-operation and articulation with the national level
    • Manages the participation of the Euro-VO members which are not partners in the project
    • Manages the liaisons with the policy level (European Commission, Astronet, national and intergovernmental agencies and the policy makers in the partner countries)
    • Explores the extension of the astronomical VO community to other European countries
  • WP2-3 – Liaisons with other disciplines
    • Liaises with other EC-funded projects in “neighbouring” disciplines to explore possible co-operations
  • WP2-4 – Strategy definition
    • Explores the different aspects of long term sustainability of the project

Description of Work

  • WP2-1 Project overseeing
    • Overall leadership and planning, ensuring the coordination of EuroVO-ICE activities, developing the project plan, and assessing the project activities. Leadership and planning are provided by the Board.
    • Scientific guidance of the project (ESO). Overall guidance is provided by the Euro-VO Science Advisory Committee meetings
  • WP2-2 – European co-operation and articulation with the national level
    • Board meeting, including all Euro-VO members
    • Discussions with EC and inputs to the definition of its strategy, discussions with Astronet and within the parners’ countries and intergovernmental agencies
    • Participation of the community (scientific community, VO developers) from other European countries in the project activities
  • WP2-3 – Liaisons with other disciplines
    • ‘Liaison’ meetings with key staff from other EC funded projects
    • Participation of staff from other projects in EuroVO-ICE activities
    • Participation of Euro-VO staff in activities of the other EC funded projects
  • WP2-4 – Strategy definition
    • Gathers lessons learnt from EuroVO-AIDA and from all project activities to build the medium term Euro-VO strategy

SAC activities are managed by WP3. SAC meetings during EuroVO-ICE: 10 February 2011, ESO, Garching; 27 September 2011, Santander, Spain.

Among liaison activities

  • Participation in the European Planetary Science Congress 2010, organised by the Europlanet-RI in Roma, Italy, 19-24 September 2010
  • Participation in the Computing and astroparticle physics organised by the ASPERA ERA-NET in Lyon, France, 7-8 October 2010.
  • VAMDC talks at the Euro-VO Technology Forums 1 and 3. Talk VAMDC experience in deploying standard interfaces at the various atomic and molecular data centres in the "Feedback from implementation" session of the Pune IVOA Interoperability meeting (October 2011). Kevin Benson discussed the usage of Taverna in VAMDC at the Urbana Interoperability meeting (May 2012). Space Plasma Physics and Planetary Science projects (IMPEx and EuroPlaNet) also participated in the Pune and Urbana meetings and presented talks (B. Cecconi, M. Gangloff, P. Le Sidaner).
